American international students can be deported and forced to return to their home countries
On July 06, 2020, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that if international students’ classes are 100% online this fall, they may not be allowed to enter the USA or must leave the USA if they are in this country.
The holders of F-1 or M-1 Visa in the US may need to transfer to a school that offers in-person classes if they want to maintain legal status. Otherwise, they may face the risk of deportation.
Currently, almost all universities in the US have not made any announcements about teaching methods for the upcoming fall intake because they are still waiting for the official decision from ICE.
This is the latest information from ICE USA. It is currently generating a variety of controversial opinions.
