Canada got a fire named COVID-19 under control
For a long time, the American Dream has always been a world of complete freedom and richness in many people’s minds. Especially in developing countries such as Vietnam, it is believed that your future will be much brighter once you are able to settle in the land of America.
But sadly, many people today have no longer considered America as their dream destination, instead they have turned their goals to many other countries such as Japan or Turkey, and most notably the US’s neighbour, Canada.
More specifically, during the outbreak of COVID-19 starting from March this year, Canada has protected not only their citizens but also people who are international students, foreign workers and even temporary visitors with emergency response and support packages to put out the flame of the global epidemic.
“In Canada, we are all one family. If you are unfortunately stuck in the foreign land, we will hold hands together and build a new home where you will be supported as much as possible until we find a solution to overcome this pandemic.” – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said.
From the treatment free of charge…
On March 20, 2020, the Government of Ontario province officially announced that they will pay all costs related to COVID-19 including costs of examination, testing and treatment for Ontario residents. That means not only those who are Canadian citizens and permanent residents but also those who are foreigners without OHIP can enjoy this support.
This action is intended to encourage everyone to participate in examination and testing for positive cases’ timely detection and treatment not being delayed by patients’ financial concerns.
...to financial supports
The government will provide a taxable subsidy of $ 2,000 per month for up to 4 months for:
- Who must stop working because of COVID-19 and not get paid leave or other income support.
- Who are sick, quarantined or caring for COVID-19 patients.
- Parents who are able to work but must stay home without paying to care for their sick or disable children because schools and kindergartens are closed.
- Who get laid off because of COVID-19
- Self-employed individuals or contract workers who are not eligible for Employment Insurance.
The Canadian Emergency Response Benefits Program can be accessible through a secure website portal starting in early April. Applicants will also be able to apply over the automated phone line or by toll-free.
This benefit replaces the previous Urgent Care Benefit and Urgent Assistance Benefit.
